Hamster Kombat has officially released a new roadmap and whitepaper on its official website, highlighting several changes to the game, including the token launch schedule.
This update has left many community members and players disappointed, as the Hamster Kombat team had previously scheduled the token launch for July 2024.
Roadmap and Whitepaper Updates
The changes to the roadmap and whitepaper were published on 30 July 2024 by the Hamster Kombat team, but unfortunately, the reception was not as expected.
Initially, these updates were intended to clarify the current state of the Hamster Kombat project and provide reassurance to its players. A key point to note is the delay in the token launch, which was previously slated for July 2024 but has now been moved to the “upcoming” section.
The use of the word “Upcoming” in the roadmap schedule indicates that the token launch still has no definite date, causing disappointment among many community members and players.
Along with these changes, a new whitepaper was released, which primarily only revised the brief explanation of the Token Hamster Kombat’s token economics and clarified that NFTs would continue to be part of the game.
The new roadmap also mentions the launch of new skins and characters within the game in July 2024. Upon inspecting the game, it is apparent that new skins or accessories and character types have indeed been added, which players can purchase using in-game coins.
It is highly likely that these will eventually become the mentioned NFTs, which can be traded for real currency, such as Hamster Kombat Tokens, once launched.
There is also a statement that a marketplace will be included in the game, and while one currently exists, it is likely that this marketplace will continue to be developed to become a hub for asset transactions, including these NFTs.
Furthermore, there is a possibility that the marketplace will later feature a connect wallet function, making it a comprehensive crypto application like others in the market.
In the new whitepaper, there is also an explanation regarding the token economics, which unfortunately also fell short of expectations. The section on token economics only briefly outlines what the tokens will be used for, primarily to support the community.
This explanation had already been provided in the initial version of the whitepaper, making it disappointing for a project as significant as Hamster Kombat to produce such an underwhelming update.
Community Disappointment
On the official Hamster Kombat Twitter account, the game’s development team made a statement regarding the changes in the new roadmap and whitepaper.
The three main points were the statement that 60% of all tokens would be allocated for an airdrop, details of token economics to be explained later, and clarification that there is still no official schedule for the token launch.
While the 60% airdrop allocation seems like positive news, the delay in the token launch has left many community members and players disheartened, as many have been eagerly awaiting and even chasing coins since the game’s initial launch.
Furthermore, the Hamster Kombat Token has already been listed on several pre-markets on various exchanges, giving the overall impression that the token launch was imminent.
Reactions have ranged from disappointment and confusion to sarcasm, generally criticising the token launch delay. The prevailing narrative suggests either the team was unprepared for the number of players chasing the airdrop or they are exploiting the moment with a large player base.
This is understandable given that there are over 300 million players who could be monetised in various ways.
One monetisation strategy already implemented by Hamster Kombat is the creation of a YouTube Channel, where players are required to watch content to earn additional coins. Considering the large number of viewers and subscribers, it is understandable if they are struggling to meet the airdrop launch or are being greedy because of this potential.
It is especially disappointing considering Hamster Kombat has received investment funding from several Venture Capitals, so financial constraints should not be an issue.
It is highly likely that this will lead to further disappointment, whether Hamster Kombat will provide an airdrop but in small quantities, or delay it for too long, causing players to protest because their efforts seem in vain.
However, overall, Hamster Kombat still has loyal supporters, so for those of you still hoping to chase the airdrop, this might be an opportunity as negative news might reduce competition for the airdrop.
